Environmental and Sustainability Advisor, Ipswich
We are currently recruiting for an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to join our passionate and driven team based at our client’s site in Ipswich.
This role covers the OCS Group in the UK & Ireland, reporting to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager (UK & I).
The Environmental and Sustainability Advisor is responsible for environmental compliance and engagement processes across the business and with customers. The role requires significant engagement with internal stakeholders (e.g., QHSE, Bid, Sales, Social Mobility, Communications teams) and external stakeholders (e.g., Regulators and Customers) to ensure best-in-class environmental and sustainability management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the environmental input for the bid and tendering process, working with multiple teams to ensure environmental support is consistent.
- Support and engage with customers on environmental requirements and initiatives.
- Support operational teams with the management and implementation of the Environmental Management System, accredited to ISO 14001:2015, ensuring continual improvement and risk management.
- Develop and deliver environmental training and workshops to relevant staff.
- Ensure environmental data is captured across our customer base and integrated into Group reporting.
- Conduct horizon scanning of upcoming regulations and initiatives related to ESG and the facilities management industry.
- Maintain awareness of current and future legislation to ensure legal compliance, update the legal compliance portal, and inform the business of relevant changes.
- Assist in delivering ESG reports, presentations, and dashboards for customers.
- Coordinate environmental best practices across divisions.
- Create and update procedures for environment and sustainability, and report on progress towards environmental targets.
- Support operational teams on issues of non-compliance or environmental incidents and monitor incidents across the business.
- Assist with carbon impact assessments and develop contract-specific carbon reduction plans and ESG strategies.
About You:
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- Experience and knowledge in environmental areas such as carbon, waste, and energy.
- Good understanding of environmental legislation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience within facilities management and/or the construction industry.
- Good understanding and experience with bids/tenders.
- Qualifications in Environment/Sustainability/ESG are preferred.
