Job description

Mott MacDonald Bentley is recruiting for an Environmental Advisor to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA).

The 330km SPA Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Additionally, there are plans for a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP8.

What will you be doing as our new Environmental Advisor?

You will provide on-site support to the enabling and delivery teams during the pre-construction and construction stages of the pipeline project. Your responsibilities include conducting inspections and audits to monitor compliance with environmental legislation and SPA requirements, assisting Construction Environmental Managers and the Environmental Manager in delivering strategic priorities, and supporting environmental surveying and consenting for future projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and SPA requirements
• Conduct site inspections and internal audits
• Provide guidance and feedback to construction teams to promote continuous improvement
• Collaborate across SPA contracts to ensure environmental management plans are implemented
• Develop and deliver environmental training sessions
• Investigate and report environmental incidents or near misses
• Support future project planning and document preparation
• Assist with permit and consent applications as needed

Your skills, experience, and behaviors:

This role is suitable if you have:

• Experience in contaminated land, statutory nuisance, waste management, ecology, incident investigation, or environmental permitting
• A degree in an environmental-related subject
• Membership of a relevant professional body and knowledge of environmental legislation
• Data analysis and interpretation skills
• Experience in communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution
• Report writing and dashboard creation skills
• A full clean UK driving license

Location: Hybrid work from SPA construction site offices across the Anglian Water region (minimum 4 days on-site per week) and remote work.
