Job description

Position: Environmental Advisor

Location: Yorkshire/North East

Salary: GBP40,000 - GBP50,000 (depending on experience)

Are you a passionate Environmental Advisor ready to make a tangible impact within the fast-paced construction sector? This is your chance to join a leading construction company and become a key player in our mission to build a more sustainable future across the Northern regions.

We're looking for a proactive individual who can effectively implement and maintain robust Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and elevate environmental awareness across diverse projects. You will be instrumental in shaping our environmental performance, ensuring they not only meet but exceed regulatory obligations and industry best practices.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Driving Environmental Performance: Improve and maintain our environmental performance and compliance across all projects.
  • Implementing Key Tools: Support project teams in setting up vital environmental management tools, including noise, air, and vibration monitors, ecological surveys, and pollution prevention measures.
  • Ensuring ISO14001 Compliance: Play a crucial role in ensuring our EMS complies with ISO14001 standards.
  • Proactive Management: Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identify areas for improvement, and coordinate corrective and preventative actions.
  • Expert Guidance: Provide technical support on various environmental management aspects.
  • Staying Ahead: Communicate and implement changes in environmental legislation throughout the business.
  • Incident Management: Manage incidents and emergencies, fulfilling reporting obligations to regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborating for Success: Work with HSEA and Sustainability teams, offering training and guidance.
  • Data and Reporting: Assist in analyzing and collating environmental performance data for reports.
  • Liaising with Regulators: Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies like the Environment Agency.
What We're Looking For
  • At least 2 years of experience in a dedicated environmental role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in environmental studies, sustainable development, or related fields; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Strong environmental management skills with proven experience in documentation and management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
  • Solid legislative knowledge relevant to the environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of ArcGIS is highly desirable.
  • Membership of IEMA is a strong advantage.
  • Genuine commitment to equality and diversity, with a good understanding of customer care processes.
