Job summary

Cadent Gas is seeking an Environmental Specialist to drive sustainable outcomes across major Capital Delivery projects. You will provide expert environmental guidance, influence project teams and suppliers, and ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.

In this role you will develop KPIs, support incident investigations, and help sites achieve ISO 14001 compliance through practical advice and collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering environmental management support within utilities, infrastructure, construction or regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, permits and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems, auditing and assurance processes.
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships with project teams, contractors and regulatory bodies.
  • Experience developing performance measures, reporting and environmental improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting investigations and implementing lessons learned.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Advise project teams on environmental risk and compliance across Cadent Capital Delivery projects.
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance across sites and processes through practical guidance.
  • Collaborate with Cadent's supply chain to monitor and improve environmental performance.
  • Develop KPIs and drive continuous improvement in environmental outcomes.

Job description

Drive environmental excellence across major infrastructure projects

As our Environmental Specialist, you'll play a key role in ensuring Capital Delivery projects are delivered in a way that protects the environment, meets regulatory requirements and supports Cadent's commitment to continuous improvement. This isn't just about compliance - it's about providing expert advice, influencing positive behaviours and helping drive environmental best practice across complex project portfolios.

Working closely with Capital Delivery teams and our supply chain partners, you'll act as a trusted environmental advisor, supporting project teams to identify and manage environmental risks, improve performance and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and standards.

This is a highly collaborative role where you'll combine technical expertise, stakeholder engagement and performance improvement to help deliver safe, sustainable and environmentally responsible outcomes across Cadent's projects.

This role comes with a company car and, as regular travel will be required, a full UK driving licence is essential.
