Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary SEND school in Sutton. This full-time role, based in Sutton, offers term-time and temp-to-perm opportunities with a quick start.

Ideal candidates will support pupils with SEND, provide 1:1 and small group assistance, and help students access learning while fostering communication and independence. DBS may be required.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient, and positive attitude.
• Interest in supporting children with special educational needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Calm, adaptable, and resilient under pressure.
• Experience with children or vulnerable individuals desirable but not essential.
• No formal Teaching Assistant qualifications required.

Responsibilities

• Support primary-aged pupils with SEND in the classroom and throughout the school day.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to help children access learning and achieve their individual targets.
• Encourage communication, social skills, emotional wellbeing, and independence.
• Assist with sensory, creative, and practical learning activities.
• Support positive behaviour and pupil engagement.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
