Job summary

Central YMCA in Leeds is seeking an English Tutor to design and deliver engaging programmes, helping learners achieve Level 2 English and GCSE qualifications.

Based with a nationwide team of subject specialists, you will support learners, manage assessments, and contribute to curriculum development while upholding safeguarding and quality standards. This role requires PGCE or equivalent and English qualifications.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and great rapport-building ability.
• Be creative and brave, finding ways to engage learners and improve maths confidence.
• Nurture and empower learners by supporting them to overcome barriers.
• Be highly organised, with demonstrated planning and time-management skills.
• PGCE/Certificate in Education, or L5 Diploma in Education and Training.
• Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in English, and Level 2 in maths.
• Experience of teaching English up to Level 2 and/or GCSE.

Responsibilities

• Meet the needs of individual learners and support their success on their programme of learning.
• Assist in the organisation of internal assessments and external examinations.
• Contribute to course review processes, curriculum development and quality assurance.
