Job summary

York College is seeking a passionate English tutor to lead GCSE English instruction for students aged 16-18 within the Creative Directorate. The role focuses on engaging lessons, diverse teaching strategies, and preparing learners for GCSE examinations with clear assessments.

You will provide feedback, foster a positive learning environment, and work collaboratively with colleagues to raise English education standards across the department.

Qualifications

• Hold at least a Level 3 qualification in English.
• A relevant degree is desirable.
• A Level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) is preferred; however, we are willing to consider willingness to work towards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver GCSE English lessons for 16-18 students.
• Prepare students for GCSE examinations with well designed assessments.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to support progress.
• Collaborate with the Creative Directorate and Maths team to enhance English education.
