Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting an English Tutor to support children and young people across West Sussex through personalised 1:1 tuition. Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you will help learners improve literacy, confidence and engagement with learning.

The role offers flexible hours, a start in September, and pay of 25-30 per hour. Experience in education is required (minimum 2 years), DBS Update Service is preferred, and travel within West Sussex is welcome.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in an educational setting (tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring or similar).
• Strong English subject knowledge and ability to deliver engaging, personalised lessons.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 English tuition to children and young people across West Sussex.

Help Learners Develop Confidence in English

We're looking for an English Tutor to support children and young people across West Sussex through personalised 1:1 tuition.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll provide tailored support to learners who require alternative educational provision. Many of the students we work with have faced barriers to education and benefit from a personalised approach that helps improve literacy, communication, confidence, and overall engagement with learning.

We're particularly interested in tutors who can support learners in:

• Crawley
• Worthing
• Horsham
• Chichester
• Bognor Regis
• Littlehampton

Location: West Sussex

Start Date: September

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: 25- 30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
• Strong English subject knowledge
• Ability to deliver engaging and personalised lessons
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within West Sussex
