Principal Recruitment supports a Harrow-based 11-18 comprehensive school in recruiting an English Teacher to start September 2026. You will deliver English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4, plan engaging schemes, and support GCSE preparation while fostering a love of reading and analytical thinking.

The successful candidate will hold QTS or an equivalent qualification, have strong knowledge of English, and bring classroom management excellence.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and high-quality English Teacher to join the English department at from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious English Teacher who wants to work in a supportive, high-expectations environment where students are encouraged to think independently, develop their confidence and achieve excellent academic outcomes.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop their reading, writing, analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver consistently high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach engaging and challenging English Language and Literature lessons that inspire students and develop a genuine love of the subject.
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations.
  • Develop students' ability to analyse texts, construct well-developed arguments and communicate their ideas confidently.
  • Encourage students to read widely and engage with a diverse range of literary texts.
  • Differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of students of varying abilities.
  • Challenge high-achieving students while providing appropriate support and intervention for those who require additional assistance.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and identify areas for development.
  • Provide high-quality feedback that enables students to understand how to improve.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, effort and academic achievement.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students and encourage confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department to develop curriculum resources, schemes of work and teaching strategies.
  • Contribute to departmental meetings, assessment, moderation and curriculum development.
  • Support enrichment activities and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an English Teacher who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
