Job summary

Orion Academy in Oxford is seeking a strong and ambitious Teacher of English to support young people with SEMH within a specialist through-school. English has a central place in Orion’s curriculum and the successful candidate will teach reading, writing, spoken language and English across the Academy’s phases to build knowledge, fluency, confidence and qualifications for future learning and adulthood.

• Ability to teach the English curriculum across Key Stages 2–5 and SEND/SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach reading, writing, vocabulary, spelling, grammar and spoken language explicitly.
• Plan and deliver well-sequenced lessons with clear learning objectives and appropriate challenge.
• Use adaptive teaching to maintain high expectations and accessibility for all students.
• Assess and provide feedback to identify gaps and next steps in learning.
• Contribute to curriculum development and collaborative professional learning.
