TeacherActive Limited is recruiting an English Teacher for a specialist SEMH provision in Tewkesbury. The role is long-term and starts on 2 November 2026, with a daily rate of £170–£195.

You will plan and deliver English lessons up to GCSE/KS4, tailoring approaches to SEMH pupils while maintaining positive behaviour management. The successful candidate will hold QTS with English, have experience teaching English to GCSE level, and demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and outstanding

Qualifications

Are you a passionate English Teacher who can inspire students to achieve their full potential at GCSE level?

Do you have experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Are you resilient, adaptable and confident managing challenging behaviour in a specialist education setting?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH provision based in Tewkesbury, supporting students aged 11 to 16 who are unable to access mainstream education. The school offers small class sizes and a supportive learning environment, allowing staff to build positive relationships with students and provide personalised learning opportunities.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated English Teacher on a long-term basis, starting on 2nd November 2026. The successful English Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons up to GCSE / Key Stage 4, adapting teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH difficulties while maintaining positive behaviour management and encouraging academic progress.

The successful English Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS with an English specialism
• Experience teaching English up to GCSE / Key Stage 4
• Experience supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
• Strong classroom management and the ability to implement positive behaviour strategies
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to teaching
