Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an English Teacher for Leicester to start ASAP. This full-time role offers permanent or long-term supply options and covers KS3/KS4 (KS5 if experience). You will plan engaging lessons, assess progress, and support SEND/EAL learners. QTS/QTLS and a degree in English are required; ECTs welcome with induction and mentoring.

• Contribute to departmental development, literacy initiatives, and curriculum enrichment.
• Support extracurricular activities such as writing clubs, debating, or school productions.

This is a full-time opportunity, ideally offered on a permanent basis, however fixed-term contracts and long-term supply placements will also be considered. The role is suitable for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to develop within a supportive and ambitious environment.

About the Role

• Teach engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 available depending on experience)
• Plan and deliver creative, inclusive lessons that develop reading, writing, and analytical skills
• Support learners of all abilities, including SEND and EAL students, through effective differentiation
• Encourage discussion, interpretation, and creative thinking through literature, poetry, and drama
• Assess, track, and report on student progress to ensure strong outcomes
• Contribute to departmental development, literacy initiatives, and curriculum enrichment
• Support extracurricular activities such as writing clubs, debating, or school productions

About You

• Holds QTS/QTLS (or equivalent) and a degree in English or a related subject
• Strong subject knowledge in both English Language and Literature
• Passionate about making English engaging, accessible, and enjoyable for all students
• Confident classroom practitioner with high expectations for behaviour and achievement
• Reflective, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement
• ECTs are warmly welcomed and will receive full induction and mentoring support
