As one of only two specialist horse racing colleges in the UK, this third sector provider delivers training for people in both racing and other equine industries. A minimum of A-Level English (or equivalent), GCSE Maths (or equivalent) is also a mandatory requirement. We are ideally looking for experience of teaching Functional Skills in both subjects, QTS or QTLS status and experience of teaching GCSE in either subject. You should be highly motivated, an excellent communicator and be able to work as part of a team. You must have a willingness to work with young people who will present challenging behaviours, which at times can be stressful. The salary is £35,804.29, which is the M1 Schools rate, per annum with a contributory pension scheme. An initial holiday entitlement of 25-days plus Bank Holidays, which increases incrementally, and Life Assurance (2x salary).Working for the NHC provides significant benefits compared to regular schools, colleges and other settings.1. You can progress your career with us. We care about our people, investing in staff development, regularly providing internal CPD training as well as paying for external courses so that we can all develop our skills and careers.2. Our students are inspiring to work with. They develop a great deal of resilience, discipline and maturity through their main course, which they definitely bring to the classroom. They spend a lot of time away from screens, with animals and in the fresh air. Combined with small group sizes, this leads to a productive, calm and pleasant learning environment where teachers have the chance to make a real difference.3. It’s a wonderful environment to work in. The NHC is well known within racing for being welcoming and friendly. Staff have a clarity of purpose and a sense of togetherness that shines through and fits the beautiful surroundings of Rossington Hall.4. You won’t be micromanaged. Our leadership understand that professionals want clear direction, while being trusted to carry out their duties effectively. Working at the NHC provides that feeling you get from the best managers, that you are trusted and supported.5. Workloads are reasonable. This is not a typical school environment where they expect several hours a week of unpaid overtime. Our teachers have a much healthier work-life balance, and we don’t expect you to take work home. If you do have a busy period, paid overtime or time in lieu can be agreed with your line manager.6. Holidays are flexible. We have some learners year-round and others on term-time courses. While we often do take our holidays when the schools are off due to it being quieter, there is the option to take them when the flights are cheaper if that suits you.If you would like to visit the college to see for yourself, we would be very happy to accommodate you.The selected Applicant will be asked to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. The College meets equality and diversity, health and safety and safeguarding children and young people requirements.Applications are by CV and a personal statement within the CV outlining why you believe you will be a fit for this role.
