Job summary

hireful is seeking an English Lecturer to deliver engaging GCSE English lessons and support learners to achieve qualifications and progress into further education, training or employment.

The role requires a degree in a relevant subject and proven GCSE English teaching experience; teaching qualification preferred, with support available for those working towards it. The position is full-time, 37 hours per week, based at a Surrey campus with strong transport links.

You ll support young people and adults to develop their English skills and confidence, delivering engaging lessons that help them achieve their qualifications and progress into further education, training or employment.

A salary of up to £39,700 is available depending on qualifications and experience, alongside an attractive benefits package, generous holiday entitlement and pension.

The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, and based at a campus location within Surrey with good transport links from surrounding areas. Easily accessible from Woking, Ashford, Weybridge, Guildford, Walton-on-Thames, Esher, Epsom, Staines-upon-Thames and the wider Surrey area.

The Role

• Deliver engaging English lessons across GCSE and Functional Skills programmes.

• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and builds confidence.
• Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to the ongoing development of courses.
• Embed employability skills into lessons, helping learners develop the skills they need for their future careers.

About You

• You ll hold a degree in a relevant subject area and have proven experience teaching GCSE English.
• Ideally, you ll have a recognised teaching qualification, although candidates willing to work towards one with support will also be considered.
• Recent graduates and those looking for a career change are encouraged to apply, provided they have the relevant subject knowledge and GCSE English teaching experience.
• You ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly, engage learners and adapt your approach to different abilities.
• You ll be confident using IT and able to work collaboratively with colleagues to support learner success.
