Job summary

The Fermain Academy in Macclesfield seeks an experienced English teacher to lead the KS3/KS4 English Curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching and adherence to national standards and Ofsted expectations.

You will work within a supportive staff team to develop engaging lessons, monitor pupil progress, and contribute to whole-school improvement, safeguarding, and student wellbeing throughout the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status and degree in education or relevant subject.
• Experience teaching English to KS3/KS4 and delivering high-quality lessons.
• Ability to lead curriculum development and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and continual improvement of the English curriculum for KS3 and KS4.
• Moderate and map the English curriculum to ensure consistency across year groups.
• Review lessons, pupil work and feedback to ensure high standards.
• Model exemplary English teaching and promote evidence-informed approaches.
• Ensure assessments meet National Curriculum requirements and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with SENCO to identify students needing additional support.
