Job summary

New College Swindon is seeking an experienced Head of Faculty – English & ESOL to lead curriculum teams and drive high-quality teaching, learning and assessment. You will develop a forward-thinking curriculum that responds to learners, employers and stakeholders, while supporting staff development and quality improvement.

You will work with colleagues College-wide to monitor performance, plan provision and ensure programmes meet awarding body requirements and standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant subject.
• Full Level 5 teaching qualification.
• Significant experience of teaching across English and/or ESOL.
• Level 4 management qualification or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of post-16 education and current developments within the sector.
• Proven experience of managing and developing teams to achieve high standards of teaching and learning.
• Experience of curriculum development, quality improvement and using data to drive performance.
• Experience of managing resources and budgets effectively.
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
• The ability to work flexibly, manage competing priorities and respond positively to change.
• Good analytical and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• A commitment to professional development, equality, inclusion and safeguarding.
• Level 2 English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire and support curriculum teams, setting clear expectations and supporting staff development.
• Monitor the quality and performance of teaching, learning and assessment across the faculty.
• Lead curriculum planning and development, ensuring provision meets learner and stakeholder needs.
• Use data and quality assurance processes to identify priorities and drive sustained improvement.
• Ensure programmes meet awarding body requirements and relevant quality standards.
• Support the effective day-to-day operation of the faculty, including staffing, events and curriculum activity.
• Lead on relevant curriculum reforms, sector developments and government policy changes.
• Manage resources and budgets effectively.
• Work with external partners and stakeholders to strengthen the faculty and its provision.
• Contribute to College-wide priorities and champion the College's CAREs values.
