Job summary

The South Hampshire College Group seeks an ambitious Head of ESOL to lead and transform our English for Speakers of Other Languages provision across the Group. You will develop and implement a two-year ESOL growth and transformation strategy, establish a consistent curriculum, QA and assessment framework, and drive improvements in learner outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience within ESOL provision, adult education or FE.
  • Strong track record of improving learner outcomes and curriculum performance.
  • Experience leading curriculum development, organisational change and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent knowledge of ESOL qualifications, funding requirements and QA processes.
  • Experience developing partnerships with employers, local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Experience using data and performance measures to drive improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for ESOL provision across the Group.
  • Develop and implement a two-year ESOL growth and transformation strategy.
  • Establish a consistent ESOL curriculum, QA and assessment framework.
  • Drive improvements in achievement, attendance, retention, progression and learner satisfaction.
  • Develop employment-focused ESOL pathways linked to local skills priorities.
  • Build partnerships with employers, community organisations and authorities.
  • Lead curriculum planning to keep provision responsive to needs.
  • Oversee expansion via community partnerships and funded programmes.
  • Manage budgets, resources and quality improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with funding regulations and Group policies.
  • Lead staff development and inspection readiness.
