Job summary

SSE plc in Glasgow, Perth or Leeds offers a 12-month Engineering Year in Industry Internship within our Thermal business. The role starts September 2027, is full time, and pays £26,239 per annum plus a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

You will work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of activities, including engineering projects, asset management and project delivery, and you will see how engineering principles are applied in a large, complex energy

Qualifications

You will be studying towards a degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
This opportunity is intended for students who are currently in the second or third year of their degree and are looking to undertake a 12-month year in industry internship as part of their university course.
You'll be expected to return to university to complete your studies following the internship.

Responsibilities

You will work alongside experienced engineers on a range of activities across engineering, asset management and project delivery.
Depending on the team you join, you could be involved in engineering projects, technical problem‑solving and asset improvement initiatives.
This placement offers mentoring and structured development opportunities across SSE.
