Job summary

SSE plc invites applications for a 12-week Engineering Summer Placement across Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness, Leeds and Perth. Starting June 2027, you’ll work with experienced engineers on real projects supporting critical infrastructure, with a base salary of £26,239 per annum and a comprehensive benefits package.

You should be in your second or third year of an engineering degree, aiming to return to university.

Qualifications

• Second or third year of university studying engineering and planning to return after placement.
• Disciplines available by location: Aberdeen (Civil, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical), Glasgow (Civil, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic, General, Mechanical), Inverness (Civil, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical), Leeds (Control & Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic), Perth (Civil, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic, General, Mechanical).

Responsibilities

• Work on real engineering activities and projects that support delivery of essential infrastructure and services.
• Exposure to design, technical analysis, project delivery, asset management, maintenance and operational support.
• Blend of office, site and operational experience depending on role and placement.
