Job summary

LTE Group’s Total People is recruiting an Engineering Tutor, known internally as Learning Coach, on a permanent, full-time basis of 37 hours per week. The role will be based at our Wythenshawe Campus and will focus on delivering high-quality engineering teaching, learning and assessment to apprentices and learners in classroom and practical workshop environments.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering engineering teaching to apprentices and learners.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in engineering.
  • Strong workshop and delivery skills.
  • Teaching qualification such as Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent.
  • Experience of delivering engineering apprenticeship standards or technical/vocational qualifications.
  • Assessor qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience of safeguarding and inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom and workshop sessions across engineering programmes and apprenticeship standards.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment activities meeting curriculum requirements.
  • Support learners to develop technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours.
  • Monitor learner attendance, engagement, progress and achievement with appropriate interventions.
  • Assess learner work and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Differentiate teaching to support varying abilities and learning needs.
  • Embed English, maths, digital and employability skills and safeguarding themes within teaching.
  • Maintain learner records and contribute to quality assurance, funding and compliance.

Total People are looking to recruit an Engineering Tutor, known internally as a Learning Coach, on a permanent, full-time basis of 37 hours per week. The role will be based at our Wythenshawe Campus and will focus on delivering high-quality engineering teaching, learning and assessment to apprentices and learners in classroom and practical workshop environments.

You will work with groups of learners to deliver engaging lessons, practical activities and assessment opportunities that build confidence, develop technical knowledge and support successful achievement and progression. This role is ideally suited to an experienced engineering industry professional or teacher, trainer, instructor who is passionate about helping learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a successful career in engineering.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver engaging classroom and practical workshop sessions across engineering programmes and apprenticeship standards.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment activities that meet curriculum requirements and learner needs.
  • Support learners to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours required within their programme of study.
  • Monitor learner attendance, engagement, progress and achievement, implementing appropriate interventions where required.
  • Assess learner work accurately and provide timely, constructive feedback that supports development and improvement.
  • Differentiate teaching and learning activities to support learners with varying abilities, starting points and learning needs.
  • Embed English, mathematics, digital and employability skills, safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, equality, diversity and inclusion, and sustainability themes within teaching where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to quality assurance, funding and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to inspection readiness by ensuring evidence of learning, progress, assessment and support is recorded effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality teaching resources, assessment materials and practical workshop activities.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum colleagues, quality teams and learner support services to ensure a consistent and positive learner experience.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, standardisation activities, staff development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages learner participation, independence and achievement.
  • Contribute to learner recruitment, induction, achievement, progression and retention activities as required.
  • Live the values of the Group through positive behaviours, professionalism and commitment to high standards.

What we're looking for

  • Relevant occupational experience within an engineering discipline.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in engineering.
  • Strong workshop and/or delivery skills, with the ability to engage, motivate and support learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and confidently.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, assessment and learner progress.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using digital learning platforms and learner tracking systems.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Teaching qualification such as Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent.
  • Experience of delivering teaching, training or instructional sessions within education, apprenticeships, further education, industry or a practical workshop setting.
  • Assessor qualification or willingness to work towards one, where required.
  • Internal Quality Assurance qualification or experience of standardisation and quality improvement activity.
  • Functional Skills Level 2, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics, or willingness to work towards.
  • Experience of delivering engineering apprenticeship standards or technical/vocational engineering qualifications.
  • Experience of supporting practical workshop learning, safe working practices and skills development.

What success looks like

  • Learners receive engaging, well-planned and effective teaching that supports progress, confidence and achievement.
  • Classroom and workshop sessions are safe, inclusive, purposeful and linked clearly to curriculum intent.
  • Assessment and feedback are accurate, timely and used to help learners improve.
  • Learner records are accurate, up to date and contribute to quality assurance, funding and compliance requirements.
  • The role contributes positively to curriculum development, quality improvement and consistently good or better learning outcomes.
