Job summary

A leading training organization in Coventry is seeking an Engineering Trainer to design and deliver high-quality training across practical and theoretical engineering subjects. The role involves supporting apprentices through their learning journey, managing resources, and creating engaging learning content. Ideal candidates should have relevant industrial experience and hold qualifications like a Level 3 Apprenticeship or higher, with a strong grasp of teaching methodologies. Additional teaching qualifications are desirable. The position offers support for achieving further teaching qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Several years of industrial experience in engineering.
  • Understanding of effective teaching methodologies.
  • Recognised Training/Teaching qualification is desirable.

  • Deliver high-quality training in engineering subjects.
  • Support delivery across Levels 2, 3 and 4 apprenticeship programs.
  • Manage and develop learning content for apprenticeship trailblazers.

The Role

As an Engineering Trainer, you will design and deliver a comprehensive, engaging and industry‑relevant teaching and learning experience across a range of practical and theoretical engineering subjects.

You will deliver high‑quality training that meets Awarding Body requirements and apprenticeship Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs), ensuring learners develop both technical competence and the softer skills essential for modern engineering roles.

You will play a key role in supporting apprentices to progress confidently through Level 2, 3 and 4 learning, enabling them to achieve their apprenticeship and HNC programmes successfully.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality training in subjects aligned to your engineering expertise.
  • Support delivery across Levels 2, 3 and 4, developing independent learners and enabling progression.
  • Manage physical learning resources and teaching spaces to ensure effective training and assessment.
  • Create and develop learning content, including schemes of work for apprenticeship trailblazers.
  • Integrate relevant training offers from industry partners into the curriculum.
  • Monitor the learning environment and work with the DSL to ensure learner health, safety and welfare.
  • Track and support the progress of your caseload, tailoring your approach to individual learner needs.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Strong engineering knowledge, ideally gained through several years of industrial experience.
  • Experience in key competencies such as:
    • PLC
    • Electrical Maintenance
    • Robotics
    • Pneumatics
  • Understanding of effective teaching methodologies.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Industry‑related qualification (L3 Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or Degree).
  • Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE Grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills).
Desirable
  • Recognised Training/Teaching Qualification.
  • CAVA or equivalent assessor qualification.
  • Internal Quality Assurance qualification.

MTC Training will fund and support successful candidates to achieve a teaching qualification within two years of appointment.

The successful candidate must complete safeguarding and Prevent training promptly and contribute actively to our safeguarding culture.
