Job summary

The Manufacturing Technology Centre in Oxford is seeking an Engineering Trainer to deliver high-quality technical training for apprentices in mechanical and electrical topics, at levels 2, 3 and HTC/HNC. You will create learning resources and provide regular feedback to track learner progress.

The role includes face-to-face and online delivery, safeguarding responsibilities, and collaboration with industry partners to ensure alignment with apprenticeship standards and assessments.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification is essential.
  • Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to gain one.
  • Recognised Assessor qualification or willingness to gain one (e.g., A1 or Level 3 CAVA).
  • Experience delivering technical training to apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical and/or electronic training at levels 2, 3 and HTC/HNC (L4).
  • Develop learning resources, schemes of work and assessments.
  • Coordinate integration of industry training offers into the apprenticeship scheme.
  • Monitor learning environment and learner progress with regular feedback.

The Vacancy

This Engineering Trainer role is required to manage and develop a comprehensive and innovative teaching and learning experience in a variety of practical and theoretical skills within the current apprenticeship standards.


The Vacancy

This Engineering Trainer role is required to manage and develop a comprehensive and innovative teaching and learning experience in a variety of practical and theoretical skills within the current apprenticeship standards.


The role will require you to deliver high quality technical training to small groups of learners through face-to-face or online learning.


You will also develop softer skills which are embedded within apprenticeships. This will require you to provide regular constructive feedback to learners and record the impact of their own learning on a regular basis.


Key Activities


  • Effective delivery of Mechanical and or Electronic based knowledge and practical subjects at level 2, 3 and HTC/HNC – L4, developing independent learners

  • Effective practical delivery of Mechanical topics such as - Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Mechanical Principals, Materials, Fluid Power

  • Or Electronic topics such as – Electrical Principles, Digital Principles, Electronics, PLC, Robotics

  • Enable apprentice progression towards successful completion

  • Manage physical learning resources and teaching spaces required to ensure the training and assessment of learners is achieved within the guided learning hours

  • Learning content creation and development of resources, schemes-of-work and assessment materials

  • Identify and coordinate the integration of relevant existing training offers from industry partners into the apprenticeship scheme of work

  • Monitor the learning environment

  • Ensure learner workplace health, safety and welfare by working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)


Knowledge


  • Strong background and experience of engineering Mechanical / Electrical based, but multi-skilled is preferable)

  • Have industry experience of the following areas: Mechanical / Electronic Engineering

  • Ideally have an understanding of assessment methods and techniques

  • Ideally have an understanding of End Point Assessment

  • Ideally have an understanding of Safeguarding and the Prevent Duty


Qualifications

Essential


  • Level 3 Engineering qualification

  • Recognised teaching qualification or willing to gain this.

  • Recognised Assessor qualification or willing to gain this, such as A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.


Desirable


  • Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSE's or equivalent in Maths and English grade C or above.

  • Recognised Quality Assurance qualification, such as V1 or Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

  • Recognised coaching qualification

  • Higher Education qualification (level 4 or above) in an Engineering discipline
