The Role
The Engineering Technician will need to be an experienced, qualified electrician (ideally Compex qualified). They should be adaptable and prepared to work within other engineering/maintenance disciplines as required to maintain the site's infrastructure. The role involves leading efforts to improve overall maintenance program effectiveness through continuous improvement of preventive maintenance strategies. Responsibilities include preparing and planning for third-party support for reactive and corrective works, ensuring relevant management approval is obtained for all critical works.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Planned Preventative Maintenance system, ensuring all activities are completed on time, within budget, and with proper documentation.
- Participate in daily team meetings.
- Perform electrical installation, testing, and fault diagnosis on plant and machinery within hazardous areas.
- Manage subcontractors, monitor scheduled PPM tasks, and oversee remedial actions, both in-house and contracted.
- Procure third-party suppliers.
- Ensure the engineering department is cost-effective.
- Maintain manufacturing equipment and utilities to ensure safe and continuous operation.
- Conduct routine in-house testing, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and emergency lighting.
- Be responsible for selecting hazardous area equipment.
- Review and prioritize work requests and determine activities required for completion.
- Provide out-of-hours support.
- Implement company policies and goals.
- Follow health and safety guidelines and best practices.
- Adhere to environmental guidelines.
- Report performance and planned improvements to the Technical Senior Manager.

Experience and Education
- Approved Practical Electrical Qualification (AM2).
- EAL Level 3 Certification in Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations.
- EAL Level 3 Certification in Inspection, Testing, and Certification of Electrical Installations.
- Compex Qualifications or willingness to train if possible.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary between GBP 35,000 and GBP 40,000 depending on skills and experience.
