Job summary

Manchester-based Müller UK & Ireland is seeking an Engineering Technician for our dairy site. The role focuses on safe front line reactive maintenance, quickly bringing equipment back to service, identifying root causes and implementing cost-effective improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.

The position is a permanent 4 on 4 off shift pattern (2 days/2 nights, 7-7). You will work with the First Line Response Technician, use PMS/CMMS for data and RCA, and contribute to a proactive

Qualifications

• Must have a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in maintenance within manufacturing or dairy/foods environments.
• Multiskilled engineer with mechanical and electrical bias; ONC/HNC or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and test, repair and maintain mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Lead shift-based problem solving and handover between shifts.
• Utilise PMS/CMMS for prioritisation, data capture and RCA (RCFA).
• Identify and implement improvements to assets to reduce downtime.
• Liaise with OEMs and suppliers for technical support and parts.
• Coach operators on asset care tasks and participate in 5S in workshops/stores.

Job description

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join us at our Manchester Dairy. As an Engineering Technician you’ll provide safe front line reactive maintenance. Actively identify root cause and bring the equipment back in to service as quickly as possible as well as actively seeking and identifying cost effective improvements to site assets and equipment, improving efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities As An Engineering Technician

• To ensure effective handover of information across shift
• Uses PMS to support prioritisation and problem solving (RCFA)
• To diagnose faults and to test , repair and maintain Mechanical / Electrical equipment
• To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure and provide CMMS data
• Contact OEM's and other suppliers for technical support as and when required and expedite parts when not available on site
• Lead shift based problem solving where corrective actions aren't clear
• Working as ONE TEAM with First Line Response Technician
• Coaching of operators with asset care tasks
• Identify & implement Improvements
• Identify life cycle issues and raise these with possible recommendations
• Use and support simple 5WHY OE techniques / RCA techniques through to 100 year fix
• Use and support departmental 5s programmes for workshops and stores

What We’re Looking For

• ONC/HNC
• IOSHH / Nebosh – Desirable
• Electrical qualification
• Multiskilled engineer experience

Note: this is a 4 on 4 off Shift role Days/Nights rotating (2 Days 2 Nights)
