Job description

About the role

Our Fenny Lock site operates 24/7 with engineering staff on-site to provide structured planned preventative, remedial disciplines, and reactive responses to a complex building services infrastructure. This supports over £150m of materials-handling automation equipment, which is continually evolving with site development investments. As an Electrical Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in the operation of the site. You will provide technical presence on-site, working within building services, mechanical systems, MHE, HVAC, automation, power, and data networks to diagnose faults and respond remedially.

Key details
  • Salary - £35,400 - £55,800. A shift allowance of 20% will also be paid, calculated on the minimum of the pay range (£35,400).
  • Contract type - This position is permanent.
  • Location - Based at Fenny Lock National Distribution Centre.
  • Working hours - 42 hours per week on a DuPont shift schedule: 14 shifts of 12.5 hours (day and night shifts) in a 28-day cycle, followed by 7 days off. Example rota attached.
Key responsibilities
  • Performing planned preventative maintenance and reactive tasks, complying with H&S standards, legislation, and SLAs.
  • Fault-finding and diagnosing issues on electro-mechanical systems and building services, advising leadership or the Head of Branch in emergencies.
  • Collaborating with automation project and repair teams to expedite solutions.
  • Supporting branch change-works and development projects.
  • Carrying out operational processes to minimize business risks and losses.
  • Supporting other campus areas as needed.
  • Using and understanding engineering infrastructure IT systems.
Essential skills and experience
  • City & Guilds 2360/2330 Parts 1-3, BTEC ONC/HNC, JIB Approved electrician, or NVQ Level 3 equivalent qualification.
  • City & Guilds or NVQ in mechanical discipline (e.g., Heating & Ventilation).
  • City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection & Testing.
  • Knowledge of BS7671, 18th Edition Regulations, and Building Regulations.
  • Ability to read electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic drawings, and fault-find to component level.
  • Experience in Building Environmental and Electrical Services, including HVAC systems.
