Job summary

Softcat is seeking an Engineering Technical Lead to empower the internal technology squad and drive high-quality production code in a hybrid UK team. You will help shape architecture and coding practices while mentoring junior engineers to deliver consistently.

The role emphasizes building standards, guiding architectural decisions, and fostering engineering excellence in an Agile environment using .NET Core, C#, SQL, Azure/AWS, and Git.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience at Senior Engineer or Technical Lead level.
• Strong experience with .NET Core, C#, and SQL.
• Experience designing distributed systems and modern architectures.
• Comfortable in Agile/squad-based environments and influencing delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build standards and drive a whole team approach to quality.
• Lead from the codebase, delivering high-quality production code and refactoring as needed.
• Set technical direction through architectural decisions and pragmatic trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers via pairing, code reviews, and design discussions.
