Engineering Team Manager Skelmersdale Salary dependent on experience
The role
AIS is looking for an Engineering Team Manager to play a key role within the Engineering function, by leading and managing the Engineering Team.
What will you do as our Engineering Team Manager
- Management of the Business Group Engineering Team.
- Successful and timely delivery of all design engineering work allocated to your team.
- Ensure that high-quality engineering work is maintained.
- Support the Business Group in the process of winning new work.
- Understand changing customer and market needs and use information to continuously improve our product offering and differentiate us from the competition.
- Identifying ‘cost out’ opportunities for through evolutionary product design changes and improvement efficiencies.
- Develop, deploy and maintain a robust Design for Manufacture (DFM) process for all products released by the Business Group into the business.
- Work collaboratively with the Product Group Engineering Leads, develop and deliver Product Road Maps that are aligned with the approved business strategy.
- Authority for technical sign off on SOP’s. This does not include general administration or ownership of SOP.
- Embed DFMECA process within the business (where appropriate) in order to establish best practices.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and efficient delivery of the team’s work.
- Technical authority for design / functional quality related issues, driving through containment with a high level of focus on minimising any detrimental impact to our customer commitments.
- Ensure that all products are designed in accordance with customer requirements, company practice and recognised engineering standards.
- Generate technical presentations for either internal or external purposes.
- Ensure that information on drawings and in documentation is both correct and complete.
- Assist in the communication of technical data to customers and sub-contractors.
- Interface with other functions as required.
- Estimating the schedule and resources required to generate engineering data relating to a project.
- Organising the delivery of engineering documentation from other team members for a project.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties that may be requested from time to time.

- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience undertaking engineering calculations and technical analysis.
- Proven ability to identify and lead product development, continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives.
- Adaptable and proactive, with the ability to quickly learn new products, technologies and engineering methodologies.
- Logical and methodical approach to engineering design, decision-making and project delivery.
- Commitment to following and continuously improving established design and development processes.
- Experience working across cultural boundaries and within global teams.
- Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
