Job summary

HellermannTyton is seeking an Engineering Team Leader for its Manchester site. You will drive strategic engineering initiatives, lead a skilled team and implement preventative maintenance to maximise manufacturing efficiency.

You will also champion health and safety standards, use data-driven KPIs and collaborate across Quality, HSE and other functions to deliver reliable plant performance.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering with Level 3 qualification.
• Strong experience in high-volume manufacturing environments is required.
• Ability to lead teams and manage safety, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the engineering team, mentoring apprentices and supporting the site function.
• Establish and maintain Health and Safety methods across manufacturing areas.
• Manage engineering projects including installation of new equipment and technologies.
• Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programmes.
• Create real-time performance measurement and visual management systems.

Hours: 36 per week, Mon to Thur 07:00 to 16:00, Fri 07:00 to 14:00

Engineering Team Leader - The Role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will drive the strategic development of engineering systems and implement robust preventative maintenance programmes across our manufacturing site. You will lead our Health and Safety standards, utilise data-driven KPIs and real-time performance measurement to ensure maximum manufacturing efficiency, and champion continuous improvement initiatives. This role combines technical leadership with people management to deliver manufacturing excellence.

Engineering Team Leader - Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the engineering team, mentoring apprentices and supporting the wider site engineering function
• Establish and maintain Health and Safety methods across manufacturing areas, proactively benchmarking best practice and driving improvements
• Manage engineering projects including installation and introduction of new equipment and technologies
• Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programmes with effective communication and documentation
• Create real-time performance measurement and visual management systems to maximise manufacturing performance
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering Manager, Quality, HSE and other functions to ensure a team-based approach
• Maintain and communicate relevant KPIs using effective analysis of maintenance reporting data

Engineering Team Leader - You:

• Time-served apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering with minimum Level 3 qualification (NVQ, BTEC or ONC)
• Minimum 5 years experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
• Strong technical proficiency in injection moulding, automation, robotics, material feed systems and PLC diagnostics
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite
