Job summary

HellermannTyton in Manchester is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to drive manufacturing excellence. You will lead the engineering team, implement preventive maintenance, and uphold Health & Safety standards across the site.

The role requires a time-served apprenticeship with 5+ years in high-volume manufacturing, plus expertise in automation, injection moulding, robotics, and PLC diagnostics. You will use real-time KPIs to optimise performance and collaborate with multiple functions.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven approach

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the engineering team, mentoring apprentices and supporting the wider site engineering function
• Establish and maintain Health and Safety methods across manufacturing areas, benchmarking best practice
• Manage engineering projects including installation and introduction of new equipment and technologies
• Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programmes with effective communication and documentation
• Create real-time performance measurement and visual management systems to maximise manufacturing performance
• Collaborate with Engineering Manager, Quality, HSE and other functions for a team-based approach
• Communicate KPIs using maintenance reporting data

Hours: 36 per week, Mon to Thur 07:00 to 16:00, Fri 07:00 to 14:00

Engineering Team Leader - The Role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will drive the strategic development of engineering systems and implement robust preventative maintenance programmes across our manufacturing site. You will lead our Health and Safety standards, utilise data-driven KPIs and real-time performance measurement to ensure maximum manufacturing efficiency, and champion continuous improvement initiatives. This role combines technical leadership with people management to deliver manufacturing excellence.

Engineering Team Leader - Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the engineering team, mentoring apprentices and supporting the wider site engineering function
• Establish and maintain Health and Safety methods across manufacturing areas, proactively benchmarking best practice and driving improvements
• Manage engineering projects including installation and introduction of new equipment and technologies
• Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programmes with effective communication and documentation
• Create real-time performance measurement and visual management systems to maximise manufacturing performance
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering Manager, Quality, HSE and other functions to ensure a team-based approach
• Maintain and communicate relevant KPIs using effective analysis of maintenance reporting data

Engineering Team Leader - You:

• Time-served apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering with minimum Level 3 qualification (NVQ, BTEC or ONC)
• Minimum 5 years experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
• Strong technical proficiency in injection moulding, automation, robotics, material feed systems and PLC diagnostics
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite
