Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Senior Engineering Lead in Leeds to drive technical direction, build high-performing teams, and deliver scalable SaaS platforms. You will own the design, development, deployment, and modernization of critical systems, aligning with architectural standards and governance.

You will champion AI-assisted and agentic engineering, advance automation across CI/CD and testing, and collaborate across Platform, Architecture, Security, and Product teams.

Qualifications

Significant software engineering experience with people leadership.
Strong C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core proficiency.
Experience with microservices, containers, and distributed systems.
Experience with Azure, CI/CD, automated testing and modern practices.
Experience with React and TypeScript frontend.
Experience in regulated SaaS or financial services environments.

Responsibilities

Lead the engineering team’s technical direction, people development, and end-to-end delivery.
Own systems across design, development, deployment, operation, modernization, and continuous improvement.
Lead design decisions aligned with architecture and engineering standards.
Drive modernization, simplification, and technical debt reduction.
Ensure scalability, security, resilience, performance, maintainability, testing, observability, and production readiness.
Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices and agentic development.
Translate product priorities into achievable engineering outcomes.
Drive automation across testing, CI/CD, deployment, and operations.
Use engineering data to improve quality and delivery effectiveness.
Build solutions using Azure, cloud-native and reusable platform capabilities.
Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Architecture, Quality Engineering, Security, and Product.
Resolve cross-team dependencies and communicate risks and trade-offs.
Contribute to engineering-wide standards and improvement initiatives.
Report to the Director of Engineering.

Lead the engineering team’s technical direction, people development, and end-to-end delivery
Own systems and services across design, development, deployment, operation, modernisation, and continuous improvement
Lead design decisions aligned with StarCompliance architecture and engineering standards
Drive modernisation, simplification, and technical-debt reduction
Ensure scalability, security, resilience, performance, maintainability, testing, observability, and production readiness
Lead adoption of AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices, including automated validation and guardrails
Translate product priorities into achievable engineering outcomes
Drive automation across testing, CI/CD, deployment, and operational processes
Use engineering, production, and incident data to improve quality and delivery effectiveness
Build solutions using modern Azure, cloud-native, and reusable platform capabilities
Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Architecture, Quality Engineering, Security, and Product
Resolve cross-team dependencies and communicate delivery, technical risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders
Contribute to engineering-wide standards, forums, and improvement initiatives
Report to the Director of Engineering

Requirements

Significant software engineering experience, including technical and people leadership
Strong experience with C# and modern .NET / ASP.NET Core
Strong understanding of APIs, software architecture, and modern integration patterns
Strong experience with microservices, containers, and distributed systems
Experience with infrastructure as code and automated environment provisioning
Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging
Experience building and operating enterprise SaaS or cloud-hosted applications
Experience with modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript
Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly SQL Server
Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, CI/CD, automated testing, and modern engineering practices
Understanding of observability, resilience, performance, and secure software development
Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools and agentic development approaches
Experience supporting or leading AI-first or agentic engineering transformation
Proven ability to lead engineers, manage delivery, allocate resources, and influence across teams
Strong technical judgement, communication, coaching, and stakeholder-management skills
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
Experience within regulated SaaS or financial-services technology
