engineering Team Lead - Food Manufacturing - Co. Down

MCS Group is partnering with a UK leader in the Food industry to recruit an Engineering Team Lead to join their state-of-the-art site in Co. Down. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior role with leadership responsibility and influence in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Overview

As Engineering Team Lead, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager to lead a team of multi-skilled engineers across continental shifts. You will be responsible for prioritising maintenance support, ensuring maximum equipment uptime, and driving a proactive approach to both preventative maintenance and fault resolution.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage the shift engineering team (including apprentices)
Prioritise and coordinate response to equipment breakdowns across production lines
Oversee preventative maintenance schedules using CMMS systems
Ensure all documentation and compliance logs are completed to high standards
Collaborate with production and process improvement teams to optimise site performance
Apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools such as 5 Whys and 5S

Qualifications / Criteria for Success

Time-served engineering apprenticeship with HNC/HND or equivalent qualification
Recent experience in a similar role within manufacturing
Strong electro-mechanical and PLC troubleshooting experience
Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills
Flexible, proactive, and committed to high performance standards

Experience within the food processing sector and familiarity with FMCG environments would be highly advantageous.
