Job summary

Pure Resourcing Solutions are supporting a leading food production business in their search for an Engineering Lead to join their site engineering team.

You will own maintenance, drive continuous improvement, and develop a proactive engineering culture to ensure reliability, maximise uptime and improve site performance. This role requires leadership, strong mechanical or electrical background, and hands-on fault finding across a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Must have leadership experience and track record in developing teams.
• Strong mechanical or electrical engineering background with hands-on fault-finding.
• Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing/FMCG and ability to handle pressure.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering team to deliver safe, reliable maintenance.
• Manage preventative maintenance programs with CMMS.
• Provide hands-on fault finding and breakdown response.
• Prioritise activities to minimise downtime.
• Lead projects with suppliers, contractors and stakeholders.
• Identify improvements to reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Develop safe systems of work and procedures.
• Coach and develop the team to improve capability.
• Monitor output and ensure high workmanship standards.
• Maintain relationships with contractors and ensure documentation.

Job description

We're supporting a leading food production business in their search for an Engineering Lead to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with leadership experience to take ownership of maintenance operations, drive continuous improvement, and develop a proactive engineering culture. You'll play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, maximising uptime, and supporting operational performance across the site.

Core Duties:

• Leading and supporting the engineering team to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance activities
• Managing planned preventative maintenance programmes and driving improvements through the CMMS system
• Providing hands-on support with mechanical and electrical fault finding and breakdown response
• Prioritising engineering activities in line with production requirements to minimise downtime
• Leading engineering projects, working closely with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders
• Identifying and delivering improvements to equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency
• Developing safe systems of work and engineering procedures
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing the engineering team to improve capability and performance
• Monitoring engineering output to ensure high standards of workmanship and compliance
• Building effective relationships with contractors and ensuring all required documentation and procedures are in place

About You:

• Previous experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams
• Strong mechanical or electrical engineering background
• Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Hands-on approach to maintenance and fault finding
• Experience working within a manufacturing, production, or FMCG environment
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
• Team player with the ability to lead from the front
