Job summary

Sodexo is seeking an Engineering Supervisor at the University of Greenwich Medway Campus to lead the residential M&E engineering team and oversee planned and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical and building services systems. The role requires strong leadership, a solid maintenance background, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement within a large university estate.

You will drive performance and coordinate across campus facilities to deliver reliable services for

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience within building services, facilities management or plant engineering environments.
• Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (HND, NVQ or equivalent).
• Strong electrical, mechanical or building services maintenance background.
• Experience supervising or leading engineering teams.
• Knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance within a large, complex environment.
• Excellent health & safety awareness and understanding of safe systems of work.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Computer literate with experience using CAFM systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of engineers across the campus.
• Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
• Coordinate engineers, subcontractors and specialist contractors to ensure effective service delivery.
• Act as the key point of contact for engineering activities within student residential buildings.
• Support the safe operation of all M&E systems, plant and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
• Manage compliance documentation, audits, risk assessments and health & safety requirements.
• Monitor contractor performance and quality checking completed works.
• Order materials, manage stock levels and maintain critical spares.
• Support recruitment, inductions, training and development of engineering staff.
• Assist with performance management, appraisals and workforce planning.
• Act as a technical expert, solving problems and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support campus-wide engineering projects and operational requirements.
