Job summary

Forth Ports is seeking an Engineering Supervisor at the Port of Tilbury to lead a small engineering team and manage planned and reactive maintenance across plant and systems. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical expertise, fault-finding skills, and the ability to work a rotational shift including weekends.

You will coordinate maintenance across the grain terminal, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and deliver clear engineering reporting.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with 2–3 years’ maintenance experience.
• Shift-work experience, with flexibility to work a rotational shift including weekends.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, automation, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• DSEAR/ATEX qualifications desirable; training will be provided.
• Experience fault-finding within an industrial fixed plant and equipment environment.
• Good knowledge of health and safety, environmental standards, quality management and food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and condition monitoring across all plant and equipment.
• Develop understanding of the Grain Terminal’s plant and equipment to support efficient repairs and minimise downtime.
• Plan, oversee and co-ordinate the installation of new plant, equipment and modifications to existing systems.
• Ensure reactive maintenance tasks are delivered safely, effectively and in line with operational priorities.
• Prepare engineering reports and provide signatures for statutory checks and other required documentation.
• Carry out ancillary tasks to support uninterrupted workflow and follow instructions from Engineering Managers.
