About the Role
Working as a key part of a multi-skilled engineering team, the Engineering Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining, controlling, and optimizing material inventory levels within the Redgrave Engineering Stores. This role ensures the engineering department has continuous, efficient access to the critical parts, tools, and consumables required to minimize plant downtime while maintaining strict cost and data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Systems Management: Maintain and populate the computerized stock control system to ensure 100% accuracy and accountability for all engineering materials.
- Stock Optimization: Monitor stock levels against minimum/maximum thresholds to ensure the engineering team is sufficiently equipped with critical parts and tools, proactively triggering reorders as needed.
- Warehouse & Logistics Organization: Design and maintain efficient storage media, clear layout systems, and precise location coding to optimize part retrieval times.
- Material Identification: Ensure all incoming and existing inventory is correctly identified, labeled, barcoded (if applicable), and accurately recorded in the inventory management system.
- Lifecycle & Obsolescence Management: Regularly audit inventory to identify obsolete or redundant materials, managing their sustainable and regulatory-compliant disposal.
- Goods Inwards & Quality Control: Process inbound deliveries promptly, verifying physical shipments against delivery notes, inspecting for damage, and managing supplier dispute resolutions for any discrepancies.
- PPE Management: Oversee the procurement, tracking, stock control, and compliant distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the engineering team.
- Reporting & Auditing: Conduct regular cycle counts and stock-takes to produce comprehensive inventory valuation, variance, and health reports for management.
- Continuous Improvement & Cost Control: Actively identify opportunities for cost reduction, vendor consolidation, and engineering department process improvements.
- Health, Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain impeccable standard operating procedures (SOPs) and 5S housekeeping standards within the stores and workshop environments, prioritizing health and safety compliance at all times.
- Administrative Support: Assist the Engineering Manager with ad-hoc administrative, procurement, or operational tasks as required.

Salary
£35,000 per annum, paid monthly, plus eligibility to participate in the Company’s Profit-Related Bonus Scheme.
Hours
45 hours per week (Monday to Friday) 9 hours per day. Working hours 6.00am to 4.00pm (including 2 x 30 minute breaks, one paid and one unpaid)
Additional Hours Required
During the company’s annual Christmas Campaign (November to December), you will be required to work Saturdays during your standard shift hours of 6.00 am to 4:00 pm.
