Main Responsibilities

• Installation and commissioning of complex schemes on the network and at operational sites.
• Install, commission and maintain complex protection and automation systems.
• Locate and restore complex faults.
• Develop skills in fault location and protection testing equipment.
• Advise team members on innovations in electricity network management and automation.
• Identify training needs and provide training on automation.
• Liaise with other specialists within the company.
• Train staff on the operational aspects of automatic systems.
• Stay updated on equipment and automation system developments.
• Plan and execute short-term work within known constraints.
• Perform network operations, including issuing safety documents up to 66kV.
• Determine work requirements and methods.
• Issue shutdown notices and coordinate with customers.
• Exercise leadership and seek assistance when necessary.
• Adjust work plans to accommodate changing circumstances.
• Assist with assessment and authorization of operational staff.
• Undertake Standby Manager duties on a rota as part of this role.

Ideal Candidate

The candidate must be mobile within the area, hold a full UK driving licence, and be flexible to undertake additional duties as needed. Depending on experience, initial salary may be lower until relevant training is completed. Residency within approximately 45 minutes of Leicester and Kettering depots is required.
