Job summary

The Compleat Food Group is looking for an Engineering Shift Technician to join our dedicated engineering team in Poole, Dorset. You will perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure optimal line performance and minimize downtime.

As part of a collaborative shift, you will diagnose breakdowns, maintain product safety by following GMP and hygienic engineering standards, and support sustainable improvements across our production lines.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role such as Engineering Shift Technician or Maintenance Engineer.
• HND or HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure optimal line performance.
• Diagnose and resolve breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Maintain product safety and quality by following GMP and hygienic standards.
• Promote sustainability and efficiency through improvements.
• Ensure systems are compliant and audit-ready.
• Document all maintenance activities in the CMMS and communicate during handovers.
• Participate in continuous improvement and root-cause analysis.
• Mentor apprentices and share expertise.

We're excited to offer an incredible opportunity for an Engineering Shift Technician Engineer to join our dedicated and professional Engineering team in Poole, Dorset

Working Hours:

The working hours are 2 Weeks of Days, 2 Weeks of nights. 05:45 - 17:45 / 17:45 - 05:45. 12 hour shift with 1.5 hours unpaid breaks per day. Average of 36.75 paid working hours per week.

Your Duties Will Include:

• Perform planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance to ensure optimal line performance.
• Diagnose and resolve breakdowns efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Maintain product safety and quality by adhering to GMP and hygienic engineering standards.
• Promote sustainability and efficiency through responsible resource use and process improvements.
• Ensure systems remain compliant, audit-ready, and aligned with regulatory and industry standards.
• Accurately document all maintenance activities in the CMMS and communicate effectively during shift handovers.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis to enhance reliability and performance.
• Support team development by sharing expertise and mentoring apprentices.

Your Skills and Experience:

• Experience in a similar role either as an Engineering Shift Technician, Maintenance Engineer, etc.
• Relevant Industry Qualification e.g. HND/HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, etc.
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Previous experience in a food environment is beneficial but not essential
