Job summary

Alexander Steele Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established food manufacturing business to recruit an Engineering Shift Lead for their busy East Kilbride site. You will lead the engineering function on shift, ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and maintaining high standards across the site.

Working closely with Production and the wider Engineering team, you will lead the engineering team on shift and ensure planned and reactive maintenance is completed

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical and mechanical engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading or supervising an engineering team.
• Hands-on operator with the ability to prioritise in a busy production environment.

Responsibilities

Alexander Steele Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established food manufacturing business to recruit an Engineering Shift Lead for their busy East Kilbride site.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineer or Engineering Team Leader to take responsibility for leading the engineering function on shift, ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and maintaining high standards across the site.

The Role

Working closely with Production and the wider Engineering team, you will lead the engineering team on shift and ensure planned and reactive maintenance is completed effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and supporting the Engineering team on shift
• Managing reactive and planned maintenance activities
• Responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime
• Providing technical support across electrical and mechanical issues
• Ensuring engineering standards, procedures and safe working practices are maintained
• Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
• Working closely with Production to resolve technical issues

About You

You will have strong electrical and mechanical engineering experience, ideally gained within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, alongside previous experience of leading or supervising an engineering team.

You will be a confident decision-maker with a hands-on approach, strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy production environment.

Food/FMCG experience would be advantageous, but engineers from other high-volume manufacturing environments will also be considered.
