Join a leading employee-owned business as a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer at the Leckford Estate. You will support farming and food processing operations, ensuring smooth delivery and minimal downtime through effective maintenance and engineering solutions.
About the roleAs part of the Leckford Estate team, you will provide effective Mechanical and Electrical engineering support to farming and food processing operations to enable smooth operational delivery and minimal down time. You will need to be responsive and effective at dealing with maintenance requests, reactive and urgent maintenance issues. You will need to effectively manage your time as well to carry out planned preventative maintenance as assigned schedules.
The Leckford Estate was purchased by John Spedan Lewis, the founder of the John Lewis Partnership, in 1929. The estate is 2,800 Acres in size and is split down the middle, north to south, by the River Test, famous as the home of fly-fishing.
The estate is organised around four business units, supported by the estate office team:
- Farming – with arable, dairy, beef, orchard and vineyard enterprises
- Food Processing – Processing Dairy and an Oilseed Processing Unit
- Retail, Leisure and Events – including a Farm Shop, Café, Nursery, Fishing and Golf
- Property
Salary - £32,900 - £52,800.
Contract type - This position is a Fixed Term contract (Secondment) until December 2025.
Location - This role is based at our Leckford Estate, Hampshire
Key responsibilities
Respond to minor maintenance requests, reactive and urgent maintenance issues as directed by Property Services Manager, team leader
Carry out planned preventative maintenance as assigned schedules
Ensure costs are minimised and agreed levels of service are achieved
Provide Planned out of hours support when required
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
Ensure all trailer and vehicle attachments are inspected to agreed time table
First fix vehicle repairs where possible
Co-ordinate all Allianz records/inspections/Equipment
Essential skills/experience you’ll need
Electrical Back ground
To hold 18th edition IEE wiring regulations certificate
Full and clean driving license
Experience working in a farming / food manufacturing business
Welding Qualifications
Tyre repairs
