Job summary

CDM Recruitment is working with a well-established engineering and industrial services business to recruit a Purchasing Team Leader on a fixed-term contract until Christmas 2026.

The role will lead a small purchasing team, overseeing purchasing of materials, equipment and services, expediting orders, and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure project deadlines are met. Based in the North East with a Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm schedule, salary up to £32,000.

Qualifications

• Experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Buying or Supply Chain.
• Background within engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or a similar technical environment.
• Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small Purchasing team.
• Manage purchasing activities for materials, equipment and services.
• Expedite supplier orders and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Coordinate with engineering and operational teams to meet project deadlines.
• Monitor stock levels and purchasing compliance.
• Drive process improvements and identify cost-saving opportunities.
