CDM Recruitment is recruiting a Purchasing Team Leader on a fixed-term contract until Christmas 2026 for a well-established engineering and industrial services business in the Newcastle area. You will lead a small purchasing team, raise POs, expedite orders and collaborate with engineering and operations to hit project deadlines.

Ideal candidates have experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain within technical environments, strong organisational skills and MS Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain.
• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or another technical environment.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a small Purchasing team.
• Raise and manage purchase orders for materials, equipment and services.
• Expedite supplier orders and ensure on-time delivery.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment.
• Work closely with engineering, operations and project teams to meet deadlines.
• Resolve purchasing queries and invoice discrepancies.
• Maintain purchasing records and ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and achieve cost savings.
• Produce reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.

CDM Recruitment is working with a well-established engineering and industrial services business to recruit a Purchasing Team Leader on a fixed-term contract until Christmas 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer, Purchasing Coordinator or Procurement professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role within a busy engineering environment.

Leading a small purchasing team, you will be responsible for ensuring materials, equipment and services are sourced efficiently while supporting projects across the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a small Purchasing team.
• Raise and manage purchase orders for materials, equipment and services.
• Expedite supplier orders and ensure on-time delivery.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.

The Person

• Previous experience within Purchasing, Procurement, Buying or Supply Chain.
• Experience within engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or another technical environment.

• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is desirable but not essential.

• Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm.
