Job summary

Randstad Business Support - London is supporting Tata Steel in staffing an Engineering Project Manager role at Shotton Works. The successful candidate will lead projects from concept to commissioning and handover within a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.

The position involves steering a small project team, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring safety and governance. A 37.5-hour week applies with a salary of £55-£60k depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5+ years in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (manufacturing, construction or heavy industry).
  • Prince2 qualification advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead key development projects through all lifecycle stages.
  • Guide a small team of Project Engineers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the works and organisation.
  • Manage projects to enhance equipment and improve productivity.
  • Build and manage stakeholder groups at project start.
  • Maintain structured processes to keep projects aligned and compliant.
  • Develop detailed project plans with engineering specs and governance.
  • Oversee design, procurement, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate risk assessments, change documentation, HAROP/CDM considerations.
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams and plant engineers.
  • Uphold Health and Safety at all times.

A permanent opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Project Manager to support the Colors remit of the Shotton Steelworks. The successful applicant will be from a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background and capable of leading projects from concept to commissioning and handover.

Only applicants with full Right To Work in the UK already in place can be considered on this occasion.

Role: Engineering Project Manager
Location: Tata Steel, Shotton Works, Deeside Industrial Estate, Shotton, CH5 2NH
Salary: £55-£60,000 dependent on experience
Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours per week
Start: ASAP but pending the successful completion of a medical, which does include a drug and alcohol test
Responsibilities:
  • Leading key development projects and navigating through all project lifecycle stages
  • Guiding a small team of Project Engineers in relation to the above
  • Working closely with business stakeholders across the works and organisation
  • Managing projects that will enhance equipment and improve manufacturing productivity/performance
  • Build and manage stakeholder groups at the beginning of each project
  • Following structured processes to keep the project aligned and ensuring those within the stakeholder groups and the Project Engineering team do the same
  • Developing detailed project plans including engineering specifications and governance structures
  • Overseeing project design, procurement, installation and commissioning activity
  • Ensuring all project work meets engineering standards, safety requirements and regulation
  • Coordinating risk assessments, change documentation, HAZOP studies and CDM considerations
  • Providing technical guidance to manufacturing teams and plant engineers
  • Adhering and promoting a high level of Health and Safety at all times
Essential requirements:
  • Qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years within Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Manufacturing, Construction or Heavy Industry)
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to the nature of the works)
  • Previous experience leading engineering projects
  • Proven capability of managing project lifecycle stages
  • IT literacy, especially with MS office and engineering software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, including CDM regulations and risk assessment techniques
  • Prince2 qualified or equivalent (advantageous)
