Job summary

Randstad Delivery is seeking an Engineering Project Manager for Tata Steel Shotton Works in Deeside. The role leads projects from concept to commissioning, guiding a small team of Project Engineers and coordinating with stakeholders across the works.

Excellent technical and safety knowledge is required for this senior position. Applicants must have a Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree, 5+ years’ experience, and full Right To Work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
  • Driver's license with access to own vehicle.
  • Experience leading engineering projects.
  • Ability to manage project lifecycle stages.
  • Strong IT literacy with engineering software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation including CDM regulations.
  • Prince2 qualification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major development projects through all lifecycle stages.
  • Guide project engineers and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders across the works.
  • Manage projects to enhance equipment and productivity.
  • Build and manage stakeholder groups at project start.
  • Maintain governance and processes to align teams.
  • Develop detailed project plans and engineering specs.
  • Oversee design, procurement, installation and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate risk assessments, CDM considerations, and change documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams.
  • Promote high Health and Safety standards.

Are you an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer?


Do you have experience leading major Engineering projects?


Are you based in or around Shotton?


A permanent opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Project Manager to support the Colors remit of the Shotton Steelworks. The successful applicant will be from a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background and capable of leading projects from concept to commissioning and handover.


Only applicants with full Right To Work in the UK already in place can be considered on this occasion.


Role:

Engineering Project Manager


Location:

Tata Steel, Shotton Works, Deeside Industrial Estate, Shotton, CH5 2NH


Salary:

£55-£60,000 dependent on experience


Shift Patterns:

Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours per week


Start:

ASAP but pending the successful completion of a medical, which does include a drug and alcohol test


Responsibilities


  • Leading key development projects and navigating through all project lifecycle stages

  • Guiding a small team of Project Engineers in relation to the above

  • Working closely with business stakeholders across the works and organisation

  • Managing projects that will enhance equipment and improve manufacturing productivity/performance

  • Build and manage stakeholder groups at the beginning of each project

  • Following structured processes to keep the project aligned and ensuring those within the stakeholder groups and the Project Engineering team do the same

  • Developing detailed project plans including engineering specifications and governance structures

  • Overseeing project design, procurement, installation and commissioning activity

  • Ensuring all project work meets engineering standards, safety requirements and regulation

  • Coordinating risk assessments, change documentation, HAZOP studies and CDM considerations

  • Providing technical guidance to manufacturing teams and plant engineers

  • Adhering and promoting a high level of Health and Safety at all times


Essential requirements


  • Qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline

  • 5+ years within Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Manufacturing, Construction or Heavy Industry)

  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to the nature of the works)

  • Previous experience leading engineering projects

  • Proven capability of managing project lifecycle stages

  • IT literacy, especially with MS office and engineering software

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Exceptional knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, including CDM regulations and risk assessment techniques

  • Prince2 qualified or equivalent (advantageous)
