Engineering Project Manager | Nottingham, NG7 | £43k - £48k/ £22.05 per hour to £24.61 per hour
Temp 6-9 months

Cherry Professional are currently recruiting for an experienced and pragmatic Engineering Project Manager to join a well established team and take ownership of exciting projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading company at the forefront of industrial solutions, where your expertise in engineering, automation, or control panel build will make a real impact!!

What you'll be doing:

  1. Managing projects from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and cost control
  2. Creating and maintaining project plans, financial forecasts, and risk logs
  3. Collaborating with customers, internal teams, and stakeholders to drive project success
  4. Handling project variations, resource allocation, and reporting to senior management
  5. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

What we're looking for:

  1. Proven experience in engineering project management, preferably in automation or control panel build
  2. Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness
  3. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and certifications in Prince2, APM PMQ, or APM Agile
  5. Willingness to travel (approx. 15%) for client meetings, installations, and commissioning

The finer elements of the role include:

  1. Deliver projects on time, within budget, and in line with customer expectations
  2. Develop and maintain project plans, forecasts, and actual cost tracking
  3. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, maintaining a risk management log
  4. Manage project variations, maintaining a change log and collaborating with Sales on cost impacts
  5. Provide regular reports to senior management and contribute to portfolio reporting
  6. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design, build, test, and installation meet specifications
  7. Assign and manage work allocation while resolving resource constraints
  8. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external project-related matters
  9. Review and approve customer proposals, ensuring feasibility in terms of cost, time, and resources
  10. Contribute to process improvements and best practices in project management
  11. Ensure all work complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation
  12. Assess risks, implement safe work methods, and ensure competency in tasks
  13. Ensure that project activities do not compromise the safety of staff, contractors, passengers, or the public
  14. Report accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring compliance with safety policies
  15. Participate in company safety briefings and ensure team engagement in safety practices
