Job summary

AWE is offering a placement for engineering students to contribute to challenging projects at Aldermaston or Burghfield. You will work with engineers and scientists on design & systems tasks, while developing practical skills in real-world environments.

The role is onsite with a 9‑day fortnight and a starting salary of £24,500. Applicants must be UK nationals eligible for DV clearance and on track for a 2:2 by Aug 2027.

Qualifications

• This undergraduate placement seeks a broad engineering discipline.
• On track for a 2:2 by Aug 2027 and graduating in 2029 or 2030.
• UK national with DV clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of solutions for complex technical challenges.
• Explore modelling, simulation, software, data and how complex systems work together.
• Gain exposure to manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing and production environments.
• Support major civil, construction and commissioning projects that strengthen capabilities.
• Experience areas such as virtual reality testing, analytical modelling and innovative engineering tools.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project professionals and operational teams to turn ideas into outcomes.
