Job summary

Wyman-Gordon Limited in Lincoln is offering an Engineering Manufacturing Technician Level 4 apprenticeship within the Production Engineering Department. You will support delivery of pipeline projects, upgrades to equipment, and process improvements, with progression to Production Engineer roles.

The programme runs for 3 years 9 months, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a range of learning activities managed by Lincoln College.

  • Essential - A Level - Any - Pass

Responsibilities

  • Learn to create and competently manage active project plans.
  • Learn how to effectively manage internal and external project communications to all levels of stakeholders.
  • Lean to conduct project presentations and compile reports.
  • Learn how to manage third party suppliers.
  • Learn to create business cases for capital investments.
  • Learn how to manage resources involved in operations within agreed budgetary constraints through effective planning, programming and prioritisation of work activities.
  • Learn to implement visual management, value stream mapping, process management, set-up reduction, 6S, problem solving techniques, mistake proofing, etc.
  • Learn to establish KPI’s to measure success of lean implementations.
  • Learn to provide support and review of machining risk assessments.
  • Learn to create work scopes for contactors and internal teams.
  • Provide engineering support for Compliance and other audits as required.
  • Provide engineering support for site projects.
  • Maintain IT record systems within department.
  • Make necessary modifications to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Recommend and implement system modifications as required.
  • Provide shop-floor support as required.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the management team.

Job description

Introduction

Working within the Production Engineering Department of a progressive aerospace company, this apprenticeship will be directly involved with supporting the delivery of pipeline projects across the business. This could involve new equipment, upgrades to existing equipment or process improvements.

Training Outcome

After the successful completion of this apprenticeship it is expected that you will progress to the role of Production Engineer. Plant Engineering would also be an option for progression.
