Job description

The Production Apprentice will develop practical manufacturing skills across the Bridgnorth production areas, with a focus on sheet metal work and electromechanical assembly. Working as part of the Production team, the role will support high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing and assembly activity while learning safe working practices, quality standards, basic problem solving and good workplace discipline.

The apprenticeship is designed to build future capability and succession within the production team. The successful apprentices will rotate through relevant work areas, follow structured training plans, and progressively take on more responsibility as competence grows.

Learning & Development
  • Complete the agreed apprenticeship programme, attend required college / training sessions and maintain evidence of learning and competence.
  • Work through a structured training plan covering sheet metal processes, assembly processes, safe systems of work, quality expectations and workplace behaviours.
  • Seek feedback, ask questions and take ownership of personal development, attendance, timekeeping and learning progress.
Sheet Metal Work
  • Support basic sheet metal activities such as marking out, drilling, deburring, grinding, folding, fitting and preparation of parts under supervision.
  • Learn to read simple drawings, operation sheets and work instructions, and understand how dimensions, tolerances and finish affect part quality.
Electromechanical Assembly
  • Support assembly tasks involving mechanical components, brackets, panels, fasteners, wiring, basic electrical sub‑assemblies and final fit‑up operations.
  • Use hand tools and simple production equipment safely and correctly, escalating issues where parts, tools or instructions are unclear.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Follow work instructions, drawings and inspection requirements to help ensure parts are made right first time.
  • Identify obvious defects, damage, shortages or process issues and report them promptly to the supervisor or trainer.
