Job summary

The Financial Times is a leading global news organisation. We seek an Engineering Manager for People & Procurement to own the engineering and operation of our enterprise platforms, guiding a team of engineers, shaping capability and driving technical decisions with autonomy.

You will partner with Product and stakeholders to translate business priorities into sustainable engineering plans, balancing platform health, technical debt and lifecycle investments across the FT tech estate.

Qualifications

Significant experience leading engineering teams for complex, business-critical tech.
Strong experience with enterprise SaaS platforms and their ecosystems.
Experience translating business priorities into engineering plans and managing technical debt.

Responsibilities

Own the engineering, operation and evolution of People & Procurement tech capabilities.
Lead and develop engineers, setting clear expectations and career development.
Establish clear technical ownership across platforms, integrations and services.
Ensure platforms are secure, resilient, scalable and well-maintained.
Collaborate with Product to translate priorities into engineering plans.
Manage planning, resources, risks and trade-offs.
Build modernisation initiatives while managing vendor relationships.
