Qualifications

Job Title: Manufacturing-Based Engineering Manager

Location: Outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland

Job Summary: The Engineering Manager will oversee the engineering department, ensuring efficient manufacturing processes and leading continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves managing 8 engineers on a shift pattern and assisting engineers during breakdowns to facilitate upskilling. Strong leadership and deep understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 8 engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs using lean manufacturing principles. Monitor KPIs to drive improvements.
• Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards. Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Balance management duties with hands-on training (50/50).

Qualifications:

• Background in Mechanical or Electrical engineering within manufacturing, service, or industrial industries.
• At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven project management experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
