Job summary

Ripjar, a remote-first team with a head office in Cheltenham, UK, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead two high-performing software teams. You will drive scalable, production-grade software to detect and prevent financial crime, guiding growth, process improvements, and engineering standards.

Approximately 10–12 engineers report to you. You will partner with Product Managers and other leaders to align delivery with the roadmap, promote accountability, and maintain a high-trust culture.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in engineering leadership, with a track record of implementing process improvements and raising operational standards.
• Experience in agile environments and delivering production-grade software as part of a collaborative team.
• Technically credible: able to engage confidently with engineers on design decisions, tooling, and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering reliable, scalable solutions to tackle money laundering and other financial crimes.
• Coach and develop your team through feedback and professional development opportunities, fostering accountability and trust.
• Own and drive product delivery in alignment with the roadmap, removing blockers and ensuring effective execution.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Technical Leads, Support, Delivery, and other Engineering Managers to shape roadmaps.
• Refine engineering processes, instill discipline, predictability and clarity in delivery.
• Contribute to the wider engineering community through agile leadership and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain a healthy engineering culture with psychological safety and clear role definitions.
• Engage in technical conversations with your team about design decisions and tooling; hands-on coding not required.
